It’s been a busy few months for Team Snap and the platform loved by millions of millennials. This week’s news focuses on their rebranding, and the announcement of the forthcoming Spectacles. But it was the introduction of a new API for paid advertising to the platform earlier this summer that caught our attention.
In 2015 CEO Evan Spiegel had denounced targeted advertising as “annoying” and tried to differentiate themselves from other platforms - “we care about not being creepy”. But things move on, and the platform has had to do an about turn to stay ahead and monetise.
